I have to admit, I've always thought American vs British spelling wasn't a problem when it came to fic. It's when American characters start spouting British colloquialisms and vice versa that I have a problem. Is using British spelling [as in "mum"] considered Bad Form by most people in the community? If it's a huge nit-pick then I might edit it, but otherwise - I barely know which words Americans spell differently, really. *sheepish*
