Am I first? Great chapter. I enjoyed Ianto and Jack's conversation at the end. I like your nuanced portrait of Gwen as seen through Ianto's eyes. I'm not a huge Gwen fan, as I find her adolescent angst a little melodramatic and irritating, but neither do I hate her. I find her to be interesting and complex, and I think you've done a good job exploring that.
I also love your assesment of Jack's character. So few writers pick up on how secretive Jack is- and I think he has every right to be considering what tends to happen to him when the whole immortal thing gets out (tortured and conscripted by early Torchwood or tortured by the Master).
I like that you call him a fake extrovert, especially based on his characterization from S1 of Torchwood (suicidally depressed, socially isolated, and living in the Hub). I tend to think of Who!Jack and Torchwood!Jack as almost two different people. Because Torchwood!Jack is old and tired and world weary, and has seen so much horror. It almost breaks my heart to go back and watch the first Who episodes of Jack, because he's so open and free and happy, and I know what's ahead for him. I really think for a long time he forgets how to play or genuinely laugh, and I like that Ianto's bringing that softer side back to Jack in this story.
