I'm with you. For a long fic I researched everything from the layout of Buckingham Palace to how a Taser works to the distance between Tube stations, names of stores in Cardiff, cost of flats in Cardiff, orders of Knighthood, etc. I write mostly AU but acknowledging when you are changing the timeline or order of events I think is really important.
