[I hope you like this! Also, if you’ll scroll up to the second comment on this post, that comment!fic has another BAMF!Ianto as well. (As does the comment right after this one, I guess? Though the BAMFness is more implied in that one.) =D]

always the quiet ones

“Okay, so Plans A and B are out,” Jack says, and looks around at his team. “Anyone got a Plan C?”

“Yes,” Toshiko says, and holds up her PDA. “But since I can’t get a signal, it’s also out.”

“… D?” Jack asks hopefully.

Owen and Gwen exchange glances, then shrug in unison.

“We’re never going to hear the end of it if we have to be rescued by the police again,” Jack sighs glumly.

“At least no one’s been hurt,” Toshiko says. “I suppose we’ll have to wait for Ianto to do something. He’ll realise something’s wrong when we don’t report in for the next check-in.”

Owen clears his throat. “Actually, I think the aliens know the schedule. And, um, are sending him reports.”

“How did they find out?” Jack asks.

“Uh,” Owen says.

Jack growls low in his throat and makes strangling motions at Owen. “When we get out of here, Harper.”

“Oi, it’s not like tea-boy would be able to get us out anyway,” Owen protests. “Maybe if he calls in UNIT for help.”

“Even worse than the police,” Jack sighs, not looking over at Toshiko.

“I’m glad to know you have such faith in me,” Ianto says.

They all look up in unison at the intercom, and then at the door, which swings open noiselessly. “I’ve tranquilised the guards. Follow the corridor down to the first junction and go right, then left at the next one, and enter the last door at the end of that corridor. That will lead you to the exit.”

They stare at each other.

“Sometime today, if you would,” Ianto says, his voice only slightly distorted by the intercom. “The tranquilisers won’t last forever. I’ve established an uplink to the Torchwood computers and am currently copying everything the Biiks have to our database. Given that I’ve already found some blackmail, we’ll be able to get rid of them quickly enough, but we should be off the ship before opening negotiations.”

“Right,” Jack says. “Let’s go. Ianto, I for one would love to hear how you managed this.”

“I’m sure you would, sir,” Ianto says primly. “I’ll see you back on the ground.”

“Owen?” Gwen says sweetly, as they run for the exit, passing by the slumbering bodies of the same aliens that had given them so much trouble. “What was that you were saying about Ianto getting us out?”

“That he would naturally realise something was wrong and fix things for us,” Owen says with a straight face.

Jack grins and keeps running. Clearly, he’s been underestimating Ianto. It’s far past time to see what Ianto’s really capable of, and he’s going to enjoy every second of it.
