I wanted to comment and say that I'm very intrigued by this first part. I think what I first liked about it was the creepiness. Small Worlds was a poorly done episode in many ways, not least because JB didn't actually convince me either of Jack's sadness at the loss of his troops or his true FEAR of the faeries. Captain Jack actually afraid of something should invest it with some scariness, but somehow he just didn't. HOWEVER, the essential idea of the faeries is very creepy. I liked how you use the recurrent flower imagery- looked up bluebells and had to find an American species because I want them in my garden next year! I also really liked that you teased out something very essential to Ianto's character- his jealous possessiveness of Jack- and made it faery!Ianto's driving motive. Which is cool. Human!Ianto is always so obviously aware of, and kind of ashamed of his jealousy, and it's kind of great to see the character, well, a lot unhinged.
