I like that they are both too jaded to have thought of talking the criminal out of committing the crime - stumbling across murders on a regular basis has to leave its toll on a person's world view.
I also love those two lines:
Conan’s a precocious little kid, but still a kid. Kudo’s anything but, and it feels like a betrayal of Kudo to get too lost in the persona of Conan.
and
I’d vote for – uh, talkin’ to the guy, makin’ sure he knows we’re on to him. , because of the way Heiji just naturally says "we", even though Shinichi just said "you" when he asked the question. <3
